Man is stabbed to death at home

FREEPORT – A 50-year-old Eight Mile Rock man was stabbed to death at his home on Tuesday evening, pushing the island’s homicide count to 10.

Inspector Terecita Pinder, press liaison officer, said the incident occurred sometime around 11pm when police received a report that a male resident of Pinedale was involved in an altercation with a group of men.

When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered the man with stab wounds to the chest.

The victim was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

Inspector Pinder said the police are appealing to anyone with information concerning the incident to call 911 or 919, or the Central Detective Unit at 350-3107 or 350-3108.

Meanwhile, Grand Bahama Police are investigating the apparent suicide of 85-year-old Jack Pfeifer, who was found shot dead at his home in Fortune Bay.

Mr Pfeifer, a resident of No 18 Reef Close, was discovered by his wife on Monday. He was on the porch, sitting in a chair with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Insp Pinder said the matter is under police investigation.
