POLICE are questioning a 17-year -old boy in connection with a shooting that has left a 19-year-old man in hospital.
The incident occurred on a bus around 11am on Monday in the area of Claridge Road.
Police say the victim was a passenger on a jitney. He was approached and shot when the bus was near the corner of Claridge and Wulff Roads.
The victim was taken to hospital by a private vehicle where he is listed in stable condition.
There were other passengers on the bus, but police say none of them was injured.
Investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Flemming Street youth is in police custody after robbing a bus driver on Monday.
It happened around 3:20pm on Market Street south of School Lane.
Police say the teen entered the bus and robbed the driver of an undisclosed sum of money.
The suspect attempted to flee, but a quick response by Mobile Division officers resulted in his capture and the retrieval of the cash.
Officers also confiscated a flare gun.
Active police investigations continue.
In other crime news, two men are in hospital after being “chopped” multiple times with a cutlass Monday morning.
It happened around 10am in the Big Pond area.
Police say the men got into an argument that escalated, leading to both men being injured with the weapon.
They were both taken to hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
Police are requesting the public’s help in locating five men responsible for two separate armed robberies on Monday.
The first incident occurred around 12:15am and resulted in a man being robbed of cash and a cell phone by four men on Shirley Street.
The second incident occurred around 6 am and resulted in a woman being robbed of cash and a cell phone while in the area of Windsor Lane.
Police are investigating both matters and are appealing to members of the public to be alert and always aware of their surroundings.
