The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning from 10:45am until 12:45pm today.
A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for Central Andros, New Providence and North Eleuthera and their adjacent waters.
At 10:45 am radar and satellite data indicated a line of thunderstorms extending from Central Andros northeastwards through New Providence and across North Eleuthera moving east-northeastwards near 15 to 20 miles per hour.
These thunderstorms will be strong to severe causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.
Residents in the mentioned areas should seek shelter and remain indoors and boaters in the warning areas should seek safe harbour.
