LAST THURSDAY,
The Season 12 Top 6 finalist in this year’s American Idol singing competition were revealed last Thursday. Not surprisingly, Lazaro Arbos was the only man left standing amongst the top five female finalists.
Every week, hopefuls are cut from the show when they receive the lowest viewer votes.
Last week, judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson refused to use their one “save cave” in the competition, and decided to send contestant Burnell Taylor home.
Burnell occupied a spot in the bottom two, with contestantJanelle Arthur. While Janelle was sent to safety with the remaining female contestants, Burnell’s journey came to an end.
Lazaro, the idol contestant with the severe stuttering problem, remains as the only male contestant left in the competition. Since the Top 10 group advanced, there have been no female eliminations. American Idol viewers expressed their disappointment over last week’s season’s voting.
One Bahamian wrote: “I understand Lazaro’s story, but when is America going to realize this is a singing competition and not a sympathy show. Come on, I have a really soft spot for Lazaro, but his performances these past few weeks should have gotten him sent home long time.”
Another Bahamian viewer said: “Burnell was sent home, and
Lazaro is still there. I know it is often said that these shows are rigged, but now I actually believe it. There is no way on this green earth Burnell was sent home and Lazaro is still in the competition. I mean what are they doing? The show should not be about popularity or sad stories in regards to the contestants, it is about who can actually sing and deserves the title.”
Will Lazaro hold his ground against the girls this week? Stay tuned on Wednesday and Thursday at 8pm for more Idol excitement and shocking cuts.
This week, the remaining six contestants will take on two songs each in the live show. They will perform under the theme “Songs I Wished I Had Written.”
