THE four Bahamians who were taking part in the Boston Marathon today - which was hit by two explosions - are safe and well.
Bahamians Shavaughn Blades, Rhonda Claridge, Sidney Collie and Youlanda Deveaux had been taking part in the event. Twin explosions at the finish line killed two and injured 23.
According to the Associated Press, there was no word on the motive or who may have launched the attack, and authorities in Washington said there was no immediate claim of responsibility.
The twin blasts at the race took place almost simultaneously and about 100 yards apart, tearing limbs off numerous people, knocking spectators and at least one runner off their feet, shattering windows and sending smoke rising over the street.
As people wailed in agony, bloody spectators were carried to a medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners.
"They just started bringing people in with no limbs," said Tim Davey, of Richmond, Va. He said he and his wife, Lisa, tried to keep their children's eyes shielded from the gruesome scene, but "they saw a lot."
"They just kept filling up with more and more casualties," Lisa Davey said. "Most everybody was conscious. They were very dazed."

I have said for years that unfortunately this scenreo was inevetable. Hence I refused to go to America since 9/11 and the Iraq war.
The U.S. did a stellar job of thwarting terror attacks over the years, but they had to know this was bound to happen sooner or later.
They are doing all possible to avoid using the term "terrorist attack", but truth is, it cannot be denied that this is unquestionably an act of terror or terrorist attack.
Hopefully those responsible will be caught; however, reality is it is most improbable that anyone would be caught in the near future after the fact.
If there is a follow up terror attack in another U.S. city with-in 2 weeks, this could very well lead to the beginning of a second wave of a serious recession as America actually shuts down.

4 people in 100,000 in the U/S die of homocide ,27 in 100,000 die of homocide in the Bahamas ,,the likely hood of you being killed by violent homcide of any kind is about 6 and 1/2 greater in the Bahamas ,,geez

Your comment is ridiculous. You refuse to go to the US since 9/11? My dear, this could happen anywhere. You have a higher chance of being hit by a car in Nassau than being affected by a terrorist attack in the US. Also, keep in mind that the US has dealt with things far more serious than this and is usually up and running the next day. It's not the Bahamas--they're equipped to deal with this, so the shutting down you speak of is far-fetched
