One killed, four in hospital in attacks

FOUR men are in hospital and another was fatally stabbed in several separate violent crimes over the weekend.

Police are searching for two men in connection with two armed robberies occurring on New Providence.

Officers also arrested 22 people in connection with various offences or outstanding criminal warrants and shut down three clubs as they renewed calls for weekend safety through positive conflict resolution.

The clubs, two of which are located on East Street and a third on Mackey Street, were closed during an overnight operation over Friday and Saturday when they were found in breach of the Liquor Licence Act.

Yesterday, police report that two people were robbed by the occupants of a silver coloured Nissan Pathfinder.

The first victim was a male jogger, who was robbed of his jewellery by three men in the SUV while at South Beach Drive shortly after 7am.

Less than three hours later, a man and woman were robbed of personal items by occupants of a similar vehicle while outside a residence on Buttonwood Avenue, Pinewood Gardens.

Police reportedly discovered a silver Nissan Pathfinder on an unpaved road in the College Gardens area.

According to police, a woman was robbed of her silver coloured 1998 Nissan Pathfinder L/P 251700 on Saturday evening. The victim was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, shortly after 11pm outside a residence in Kennedy Sub-Division.

One of the culprits wore a camouflage outfit and the other was dressed all in black, according to reports.

On Sunday morning, two men were hospitalized after separate altercations resulted in stabbing incidents.

The first incident took place around 2:30 am at Guinep Street, Pinewood Gardens and the second incident around 3:35 am at Nassau Street.

On Saturday, a man became the country’s 28th homicide after an argument between two men resulted in a stabbing.

Police are questioning a 52-year-old man of West End Avenue in connection with the incident that occurred around 3am in that area.

The deceased was taken to hospital by private vehicle where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police are also investigating a double shooting that occurred at Fowler Street off East Street shortly after 11pm Saturday.

According to reports, the circumstances surrounding the incident, which has left two men in hospital, are unknown.
