THE cousins of West End and Bimini MP Obie Wilchcombe were still in intensive care at Doctors Hospital last night after their car crashed into a utility pole in Freeport on Wednesday.
Mr Wilchcombe told The Tribune that 13-year-old Larise Wilchcombe has shown some small signs of improvement, breathing without the assistance of a respirator, however her older sister Rebecca, 23, is still in serious condition.
“We just have to wait and see now,” Mr Wilchcombe said.
Rebecca and Larise are the daughters of Pastor and Mrs Larry Wilchcombe of Grand Bahama.
Rebecca was driving her husband, sister and son, along with another young boy to school when she lost control and crashed into a utility pole.
Police have not officially identified any of the passengers, but Val Wilchcombe, the first cousin of Pastor Wilchcombe, told The Tribune one of the boys was Rebecca’s son and the other was a neighbour.
Ms Wilchcombe said she is thankful the other passengers were only slightly injured and was encouraged by Larise’s progress.
As for Rebecca, “we hope for the best, but there is nothing we can do but pray,” she said.
