A WOMAN police officer and her brother are in custody in connection with an attempt to smuggle more than $60,000 worth of cocaine out of the country, The Tribune had learned.
Police have remained tight lipped on the details of the incident, but The Tribune understands the pair were arrested at the Lynden Pindling International Airport on Friday.
According to reports, around 6:30pm DEU officers, acting on information, arrested the 27-year-old officer and a 33-year-old man after they were found in possession of 3.275 lbs of cocaine at the LPIA Departure Lounge.
The officer was on duty at the time. The drugs are worth an estimated $64,000.
Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade is expected to hold a press conference today to release further information. Investigations are continuing.
Last week, Commissioner Greenslade said RBPF is committed to enforcing the law in all circumstances – even with regard to officers who step out of line.
“I continue to remind all of us that no man is above the law in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. And if you offend against the law, the law will take its course. We as servants of the people must always be above all with clean hands and must do the work professionally. (There have been) a variety of things, (with some of our officers) professional conduct, unethical conduct, actions bordering on criminality and sometimes criminality, exposure to drugs, dishonesty... all sorts of matters,” he said.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man of Eleuthera is in police custody after he was arrested on charges of possession of dangerous drugs on Friday.
According to Police reports around 8:40pm, a team of officers from the Eleuthera Division executed a search warrant on the residence of the suspect located in Bannerman Town and uncovered a quantity of marijuana.
Police also uncovered 13 small marijuana plants. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Investigations are continuing.

don't speak too quick, cause the punch reported four kilos so at this rate time as the drugs make it to court it may only be enough for one hit. lol her lawyer could snort that then and that would be it for the evidence.
