FREEPORT – Grand Bahama Police arrested a 42-year-old Chesapeake man in connection with the discovery of dangerous drugs over the weekend.

Inspector Terecita Pinder said officers were on patrol on Friday evening when they observed a man acting suspiciously in the Hearn Lane area.

The officer reported seeing the man throw a clear plastic package on the ground.
Recovering the package, Ms Pinder said the officers found that it contained 25 silver foil wraps containing marijuana.

The man was detained shortly after.

Gun seizure

A police chase led to the discovery and seizure of a high-powered shotgun in Abaco over the weekend.

According to reports, officers from the Marsh Harbour Police Station were in the area of Forest Avenue at around 3.24am on Saturday when they attempted to stop a white Nissan Sentra.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and police officers chased him.

The car stopped at Grave Avenue, and three men got out and started running.
During a search of the vehicle, an unlicensed 12-gauge pump action shotgun was found.

Inspector Pinder said police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
