RELATIVES of a pastor who was killed in a hit-and-run nine months ago have come forward with new information.
Dr Kendal Stubbs, who led the Remnant Tabernacle of Praise Church on Carmichael Road, died on November 3, 2012 after he was struck by a vehicle while he was taking part in a church walk-a-thon.
Since then police have not found the person responsible for Dr Stubbs’ death and have said very little to family members of their progress, the family claims.
His wife Carolyn said today Kendal’s loved ones were seeking closure for a number of unsettled issues surrounding his death which have raised alarm.
These include that they were issued two death certificates and discrepancies with the causes of death listed. Officials also confirmed to the family that the handling of Dr Stubbs’ body after his death was not ordinary.
Carolyn Stubbs said: “The mortician informed the family that the body had been examined by the pathologist in such a way that he had never seen before and they wondered why. Secondly an inspector of the Royal Bahamas Police Force was unusually zealous and very unprofessional in his insistence that the death certificate had to be reissued despite the fact that there was no re-examination of the body.
“A second death certificate was in fact issued and the same inspector sought, without success to have the mortician replace the original death certificate. The family immediately sought clarification from the relevant government office about the validity of the second certificate and was informed that it was both illegal and unethical for a second to be issued without the involvement and authorisation of the coroner.”
Mrs Stubbs said the family has been left with more questions than answers.
Dr Stubbs’ death was expected to go before the Coroner’s Court twice but it was rescheduled both times due to the absence of the file.
A date of October 1, 2013 has been selected for the third time.
Mrs Stubbs appealed to the public to contact authorities with any information they might have.

I always thought drugs was our biggest problem in our country but I have come to the conclusion that most of our social ills stem from one thing CORRUPTION. Drugs would have never had such a major impact in our country if in the 80's corruption wasn't the order of the day for the then government. The "back door" system and "tipping" is nothing other than the fuel of corruption ,bribery plain and simple. Our legal system where files go "missing" ( a common occurrence I understand) is one of the reason so many criminals are still on our streets. Illegal immigrants don't need to use "voodoo" to evade law enforcement and land down in South Beach. All they need is a cellphone and one or two corrupt law enforcement officials to know when and where to land . Work permits being certified and issued through corrupt sponsors and government officials. Police taking bribes to make traffic tickets and God knows what other offences disappear. Politicians are the biggest purveyors of corruption. Monies what could be allocated for social programmes going to programmes to further enrich themselves and their cronies. Jobs being given for sexual favours. Teachers molesting our students and it being covered up.Now it appears this family is feeling the long rotted arm of corruption. It is time for us to make a conscious effort to stamp out corruption from every aspect of our society. Time to stop saying "well it is what it is" and start saying " it don't suppose to be like this" and take the necessary action to root out this poisonous tree called corruption which has plagued this country from the time Christopher Columbus "discovered" these isles and set foot on these shores. I would suggest the family use the social media and launch an organised techno- protest movement and do not rest until the truth has been found. And where are his fellow clergymen or this isn't glamorous enough for them to form a "Coalition". Enough is enough.
