A MAN accused of raping a 52-year-old woman was denied bail when he was arraigned in the magistrates’ court yesterday. Acting Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt denied 23-year-old Leroy Clarke bail due to the circumstances surrounding the alleged rape.
Clarke is claimed to have committed rape on August 6, allegedly having sex with the woman without her consent.
He was not required to enter a plea to the charge when it was read to him.
He was also told that his case would be tried in the Supreme Court before a jury.
The service of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment on November 8 will facilitate the transfer of the case from the magistrates’ court. Clarke’s attorney, Glendon Rolle, requested his client undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre.
However, the magistrate said Clarke would be examined first by a physician who would then determine if a psychiatric evaluation was needed.
The accused was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until completion of his case.

Perhaps the judge thought that she was ugly and would enjoy a younger man.

Banker...your remark doesn't even make sense.

Sorry, it was an awkward attempt to show that the bail conditions between the tourist rape and this rape are not evenly applied and do not make sense. It is a rather obtuse comment on my part.

is this the same guy that raped his 'mother' that the tribune is disguising as 'a woman'? or is this a different rape case ? if it is a different one then thats 2 rapes within the space of a week.
