OFFICERS and members of the Free National Movement, led by party leader Dr Hubert Minnis, celebrated the life and legacy of the late Charles Maynard, former national chairman and Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture.
During his remarks at the wreath-laying ceremony in North Abaco, Dr Minnis described Mr Maynard as a dedicated and patriotic Bahamian statesman who prided himself on service to and love for country, and a man who was passionate about the positive development of the youth of the Bahamas.
Charles Maynard died suddenly on August 14, 2012, just outside of Blackwood, North Abaco.
At the time of his death, Mr Maynard was co-ordinating the FNM campaign for the North Abaco by-election last year.
The FNM will further honour Mr Maynard on Saturday, August 17, with a major Track and Field Classic to be held at the Thomas A Robinson Training Stadium as a part of the party’s celebrations of the 21st anniversary of its first election as government.
