Election rift may have led to bishop’s shock resignation

Bishop Neil C Ellis

Bishop Neil C Ellis

A RIFT during the Full Gospel election of a new leader prompted Mount Tabor Church pastor Bishop Neil C Ellis’ decision to resign from the international religious body, The Tribune understands.

While Bishop Ellis had withdrawn from the elections, which were between himself and Joseph Walker III of Nashville, Tennessee, The Tribune understands that he was generally not accepted in the Bishop’s council by comparison to his counterpart because he was not American.

That view has angered supporters of Bishop Ellis who believe that his influence in the Full Gospel Fellowship has been much more influential than Walker’s. They noted that Ellis had for years brought large numbers of delegates to conferences and worked tirelessly to advance the agenda of the organisation.

Several attempts to get a comment from Bishop Ellis were not successful. A church secretary told The Tribune that the Bishop would not be issuing any statements or allowing interviews.

In light of Ellis’ resignation, which also means his church is now disconnected from the Fellowship, several pastors, who requested anonymity at this time are concerned of what the development means for the Bahamas.

It came to light on Tuesday that Bishop Ellis was resigning the post of 2nd Presiding Bishop immediately after he had served 20 years in the Full Gospel Fellowship.

In a letter sent to the International Presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton, Bishop Ellis said: “I am satisfied, after much prayer and reflection that the Holy Spirit is now leading me to bring this season of my life in the Fellowship to a close.”

He said he was thankful to God for guiding his heart, hands and mind during his tenure with the organisation.

Bishop Ellis recognised the members of the Bishop’s Council, for the respect and cooperation extended to him particularly during the last 11 years while serving as 3rd and 2nd Presiding Bishop.

I'm shocked God didn't see this all coming before it unfolded!

What? Why did God wait until the election to tell him to quit? God seems to have a two month delay lately. He didn't tell Elliston Rahming to publicly say that he withdrew his ambassadorship for two months. He never told Ellis that things were going bad until a rival appeared at election time. He never told Perry Christie to clarify his position about Peter Nygard for two months. It looks like when it to comes to the Bahamas, God puts everything on hold for two months. Come to think of it, that's the way everything works in the Bahamas. Need a passport, wait two months. Need a business licence, wait two months. Need to re-connect your current, wait two months. We are children of a lesser two-month God.

Waiting two months for a passport is nothing. I had to wait 9 months for a new passport and it's not digital. In years not long gone, The Bahamas was the most progressive country in the British Commonwealth but now it seems to be sleep walking at an alarming speed to self destruction. Crime is out of control, parental control of children don't exists, teenage pregnancy is out of control, religious leaders are asleep so there is no moral compass for the nation, political leaders and civil servants are corrupt from the inside of their bones, schools have losts all legitimacy - they have become headquarters for criminal youths: drugs, sex and everything else. The police, well, notice I did not mention them, it's a wast of time talking about them. The Bahamas is going to be the first fail state in the British Commonwealth.

I find it interesting that people are now finding fault with Bishop Ellis now because he resigned. Not because you are a child of God means you have to settle for mediocur or minority. I am sadden by our Bahamain peoples response to this. How would you feel if you have worked tirelessly for a cause for 20 full years and to have someone throw it back in your face because you are black or a woman or a man oh sorry you are to young or not tall enough HELLO where were you when i was workin my tail off. It is the principle of the matter he is saying we are not inferior we are above and not beneath. You should bproud that we have someone from our small nation making a mark on a larger scale. HATs of to you Bishop Ellis for making a stand. AND People dont be idiots have you ever heard of this Walker before now? No you havent he comes in after the hard work is done to ride of your fellow Bahamain's fame. That wat they do down there in Ten

The Gospel of Mark is generally ascribed to the period between 65 and 75 CE. Exegetes base this conclusion primarily on the prophecy of Jesus in Mark 13 that appears to refer to events of First Jewish Revolt in 66-70http://www.amazing-games.net/profile/84…">, in which Roman troops leveled the Temple in Jerusalem. For the vast majority of interpreters these passage indicates that the writer is aware that the Temple in Jerusalem either has been destroyedhttp://ceskyvyrobek.wz.cz/index.php?tas…">, or is about to be destroyed. Additional support for this may be derived from the focus on plundered and destroyed Temples in the Old Testament texts the writer incorporated into the Gospel.
