A MAN suspected of being the culprit behind the “execution” of an alleged gang leader was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Rolando Smith, a 37-year-old of Robinson Road, was not eligible for bail on the murder and attempted murder charges he faced when appearing before Acting Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt.
Smith is claimed to have murdered Julian Collie and attempted to kill Cameron Smith on April 17.
The incident happened at Miller’s Heights near Carmichael Road shortly before 11pm when Collie, the 34-year-old alleged leader of the “Fire ’N Theft gang”, was gunned down in a hail of bullets.
Cameron Smith, who was with “Heads” Collie, was shot in the leg.
The accused was not required to enter a plea to the charges due to their nature and was told that his case would be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial.
That will occur through a Voluntary Bill of Indictment scheduled to be served on November 8, Smith’s next court appearance.
