REGATTA

SILVER CAY A CLASS

THE Silver Cay A Class Regatta, which was was postponed last week, is now scheduled to take place in Montagu Bay this weekend.

The event, organised by King Eric Gibson and Rev Dr Philip McPhee, will feature the Red Stripe, Southern Cross, Ed Sky, Palm Cay Queen, Good News, Courageous and Who Dat.

Competition is slated to start on Saturday with two races, including the Sir Durward ‘Sea Wolf’ Knowles Memorial Cup race. The competition is expected to wrap up on Sunday with the final race in the series.

BASKETBALL

FATHER MARCIAN

THE 29th annual Father Marcian Peters Basketball Invitational is all set to get started 3:20pm today at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

The event, which is highly contested in all six divisions (intermediate, junior and primary boys and senior, junior and primary girls), is open to all schools, both public and private, across the entire Bahamas. The eight exciting days of competition will end on Saturday, December 14 when the divisional champions will be crowned.

The tournament play will intensify on Wedneaday as the Family Island teams from Exuma, Andros, Eleuthera, Abaco, Harbour Island, San Salvador, Cat Island and Grand Bahama, are expected to arrive. While the tournament gets started today, the competition will continue with a series of games starting at 10am Saturday.

SOFTBALL

MASTERS OPENING

The Masters Softball League is scheduled to officially start at the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park at the Southern Recreation Ground on Saturday. The opening ceremony will be heard at 12.30pm with officials from the Bahamas Softball Association. The first pitch will be thrown by Freddie ‘Buck’ Fountain. That will be followed by the Williams Construction Jets versus the Joshua Knights. Two games will be held on Sunday. In the opener at 1pm, McDonald’s Raiders will take on the BTC Untouchables. In the feature game at 3pm, the Corner Boyz will take on the Sunshine Sharks.
