Trusting in God is the only way

PEOPLE sit in chairs because they trust their ability to stand firm. If there was any doubt about a chair’s design, people would not feel comfortable sitting down. In a similar light, Christians are to live a life trusting God’s ability to do what he said he would do as admonished throughout scripture.

Believers are encouraged to be fully dependent on God every day for everything no matter how great or little something may be.

Proverbs 3:5-6 states: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths” (NKJV).

“Trusting God is a way of life. And I think that a lot of believers do very little of trusting God. They trust their money, their job, their families, their friends and everything else before they actually look to God to help. Trusting God means to lean on and rely on him and it is developed when believers learn to rest in God,” Myra Bain, a Baptist follower told Tribune Religion.

“Resting means that we give our fears and worries to God. We trust him to do what needs to be done in order to fix it.  Sometimes what needs to be fixed is in us, and sometimes it is in the circumstances that surrounds us,” she said.

Studying the word is important in learning how to trust God. Great men and women of the old and new testaments lived their lives trusting and relying on God and their stories teach important lessons,” said William Moss, a Christian.

“We have to habitually study the word to really have confidence in God and know we can hear him. The Bible is food for our spirit. As we spend time reading and meditating on scripture, we develop a strong spirit. Then we can hear God speaking to our heart – where he dwells in us – and make decisions based upon what he is leading us to do, not just what we may think, feel or want,” he said.

Some people say they trust God but do not truly know what it means or whether or not they are trusting God. Peace is how Christians can tell whether or not they have confidence in what God said he would do.

Tenia Wallace, a Christian said: “You will know if you check your spirit. That is what I do all the time. If I do not have peace about something then that means I am not trusting God. So if hell is breaking loose around you, and you are stressed, calling it quits then you are not trusting God.

Anything that causes people to worry is an opportunity to lean on and trust in God. I have learned to fall in love with some of the situations where I feel like my back is against the wall. I see them as opportunities to let Jesus show me what he can do,” she told Tribune Religion.
