POSSIBLE witness interference was among a number of reasons a judge denied bail to one of four people charged in connection with the murder of businessman Kurt McCartney.

In addition to this reason, Senior Justice Jon Isaacs told Lyndera Curry’s lawyer, Roger Gomez II, that there had been no unreasonable delay in her matter and that there were previous instances of a murder accused being granted bail only to be murdered on being released before trial.

Notwithstanding the lawyer’s submissions that his client should be granted bail, the court denied the 20-year-old Plantol Street resident a bond as she awaited trial in connection with the October 24 murder of Richard Kurt McCartney.

However, he informed the attorney of his client’s right to appeal the decision if they did not agree.

Curry is charged along with Sumya Ingraham, 26, also of Plantol Street; Thorne Edwards, 23, and Okell Farrington, 31, of Pinewood Gardens.

They are alleged to have intentionally caused the death of Richard Kurt McCartney on October 24.

They were also charged with armed robbery.

It is claimed that while armed with a handgun, they robbed McCartney of his 2007 Hummer vehicle, which is valued at $37,000.

McCartney, who is the brother of DNA Leader Branville McCartney, was shot and killed in Gambier Village. His Hummer was discovered by police a few hours after his death east of Traveller’s Rest Restaurant.

The accused were not required to enter a plea to either of the charges and were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

A fifth person, 42-year-old Terry Delancy, the owner of Virgo Car Rental, was charged with being an accessory after the fact.

He is accused of enabling Curry, Ingraham, Edwards and Farrington to avoid due process of the law. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Delancy was granted bail in the amount of $15,000 with one surety. He was ordered to be electronically monitored.

Possible witness inteference is a reason to deny all allege murderers bail, if not so then why most of them end up dead or link to another murder. This is a good step but do it for other victims also.
