Lil' Bahamians among the best junior tennis players in the world

A number of Bahamians played in the Little Mo International tennis tourney in Miami, Florida, last week. It’s the largest tournament in the United States for the best junior players around the world.

Ryan Fox played in the Under 10s yellow ball division where he won his first round match against Diego Cedeno 6-1,6-3, but was defeated in the second round by the No.1 seed Top Nidunjianzen 6-1, 6-0. Fox went on to play in doubles teaming up with Nicholas Pinzon of Colombia. Fox had some better results and he and Pinzon won the first round by a score of 9-7 and won the second round 8-6 before losing in the semifinal, 8-6.

Also, Daniel Clivio, playing in the 8-and-under (Green Dot), won his 1st round match, 6-3, 6-0, won his second round, 6-3, 7-6 and was defeated in the semifinal by Daniel Philipe in a nail-biter, 6-7(6-8), 6-1, 10-4.

Emma Weech, playing in the 9-and-under (Green Dot), won her first round 6-2, 7-5 over Eugenie Batoon. Weech also won her second match 6-0, 6-0 against Ellie Cutler before she lost in the semifinal in another nail-biter, 0-6, 6-3, 10-5.

And Jacobi Bain won his first round defeating Owen Medrano of USA, 6-0,6-0, but was defeated in the second round by Philip Deaton (USA) the No.3 seed, 6-3, 6-1. Bain also teamed up with Christopher Li (China) and won their first round match 8-3 and lost the 2nd match, 8-6.
