THE FINAL suspect believed to have had a role in the robbery of Deputy Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis was arraigned in the magistrates’ court yesterday.

Jeffery “Bongo” King, 27, of Yellow Elder Gardens, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt and faced three armed robbery charges in connection with the December 9 raid, when Mr Davis was Acting Prime Minister.

He is also accused of abetment to armed robbery. However, he was not required to enter a plea to the charges and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison to await his case being fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial, scheduled for January 29, 2014.

King, like his co-accused Tyrone Knowles, 25, and Marc McCartney, 21 who made a previous appearance before Chief Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt, is accused of robbing Mr Davis of jewellery worth $93,000, a jewellery box worth $200, Baraka gold jewellery worth $700, an opal top wallet worth $450, a Royal Bank credit card and a driver’s licence worth $15.

He is further accused of robbing Ann Marie Davis of $2,953 and Wilberforce Seymour of $10.

In addition, King was charged with illegally receiving a black jewellery box valued at $200 and an assortment of jewellery valued at $2,500.

It is also claimed he robbed Avery Johnson of a silver 2010 Honda Accord and a Samsung Galaxy phone. McCartney was charged with illegally receiving an iPad.

The question of bail did not arise for the defendant as the court no longer has jurisdiction to consider bail on those charges as of November 4, 2011.
