POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a an American man Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, officers received information around 3:25 that the body of a white man was discovered outside the Sheraton Hotel on West Bay Street.
Officers arrived on the scene a short time later and pronounced the 44-year-old-man dead.
Police are actively investigating this matter, but according to well placed sources, it is believed the victim fell from a balcony from one of the hotel rooms.

Meanwhile, police have two men in custody in connection with the country’s latest murder.
The two juveniles, ages 17 and 16, were arrested around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon. They are being questioned in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Rodney Fali.
Police say Fali was standing on Kingston Street when he was approached by a Honda occupied by four men.
One of the men got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the victim resulting in him being shot multiple times in the upper body, including a shot to the head.
Taken to hospital by a private vehicle, he died of his injuries a short time later.
Police are also requesting the public’s assistance in solving a shooting incident that left a 45-year-old man in hospital.
According to reports, shortly after 9 pm on Wednesday the victim was standing on Bougainvillea Boulevard, South Beach when the occupants of a gold coloured Honda approached him, opened fire and sped off.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
Investigations are continuing.
