An 18-year-old is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the head Tuesday evening by a “man known to her”. It happened around 8pm.
Police say she was in a vehicle with a male friend on the Eastern Road when they got into an argument, which resulted in the stabbing. She was taken to hospital by ambulance where she is listed in stable condition.
Police are seeking the whereabouts of the man.
Active investigations continue.
In other crime news, police arrested 89 illegal Haitians who were discovered in a wooden sloop off Inagua.
According to police reports, around 2pm Tuesday U S Coast Guard Helicopter officials alerted authorities after they spotted the immigrants in a 40ft wooden sloop in waters just off Inagua.
Moments later a team of law enforcement officers, made up of Immigration, Defence Force and Police Officers went out to sea to the Sandy Point location, about 22 miles off Inagua, where they arrested the immigrants and brought them to shore with the assistance of the US Coast Guard.
The 63 men, 25 women and one child are said to be in good health.
Police also arrested a 25-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
According to reports, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information, conducted a search of the suspect at Fowler Street off East Street. They found a handgun and a quantity of ammunition.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Investigations continue.
