THE CHINESE New Year was celebrated in grand style at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort over the weekend with officials from the Chinese Embassy, Baha Mar, and the government in attendance.
Prime Minister Perry Christie paid homage to the hard work of the China Construction and Engineering Corporation and Ambassador Hu Shan for the progress seen at the nearby Baha Mar site.
He told the more than 400 attendees that his government looks forward to the continued growth of the project as it is expected to employ more than 7,000 Bahamians once its completed in 2014.
Along with a spread of authentic Chinese food, attendees were entertained by dance performances and songs, with a Junkanoo rush out by the Valley Boys bringing the ceremony to an close.
