POLICE report that they had a busy weekend, making arrests in connection with customs avoidance, stolen vehicles, drug possession and a number of outstanding warrants.
Two Dunmore Street teenagers, ages 18 and 15, were detained in connection with a marijuana find. Mobile Division officers made the arrest shortly after 6pm on Saturday on Fleming Street off Market Street.
A 29-year-old Dean Street man was taken into custody for breach of his bail conditions on Saturday and eight persons were arrested by Mobile Division officers on outstanding warrants.
On Friday, a 26-year-old man of Jasmine Gardens was arrested by Selective Enforcement Team officers after the discovery of a quantity of suspected marijuana.
Police say the man will also be questioned in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon complaint.
Earlier that day, at around 9am, a 24-year-old Colony Village woman was arrested by Mobile Division officers after the discovery of a stolen Honda Civic.
The arrest took place in the area of Malawi Street, Elizabeth Estates, and police are appealing to members of the public to check with the stolen vehicle section of the Central Detective Unit, prior to purchasing any used vehicle.
During “Operation Impact” on Friday night, 17 people were arrested in Bain and Grants Town, Kemp Road, Nassau Village and Carmichael Road.
Between the hours of 1pm and 9.30pm, 12 people were arrested on outstanding warrants, one person for “immigration purposes,” another person for stealing, one for possession of dangerous drugs, and one in connection with a stolen vehicle.
Officers arrested Price Street man after the discovery of a stolen Dodge Ram.
A 44-year-old Cordeaux Avenue man was taken into police custody on Friday after the discovery of an unlicensed shotgun.
Drug Enforcement Unit officers and officers from the Bahamas Customs Department also seized a large assortment of alcoholic beverages at business establishment in Southern New Providence.
The police say they suspect the items are “un-customed goods”.
A 39-year-old Bahamian man was arrested in connection with the case.
Drug Enforcement Officers found a shotgun and a quantity of shells during a search of an abandoned, white 1995 Honda Civic on Lincoln Boulevard around 12.15pm, yesterday.
No arrests were made.
And on Saturday, a quantity of suspected marijuana was found on a property in Matthew Street, Nassau Village.
