Ya hear, ticket holders to Beres concert not happy with promoter response? Disgrace is the only word to express what happened tonight, and you can rest assured, no one (especially me) will be interested in attending any concerts you conduct in the future,” said one disgruntled ticket holder after event promoter Above the Rim released a Facebook statement acknowledge blame for the Beres Hammond no show.
The annual Night of Love concert missed the mark this year after event promoters failed to live up to their contractual agreement with Beres Hammond. Mr Hammond’s manager, Mervis Walsh, told a local television station they may consider taking legal action against the promotion company. She claimed her team was not paid by Above the Rim for Friday night’s show and therefore did not take the stage.
Above the Rim chief Jimmy Smith apologised to patrons and encouraged them to keep their wrist bands, as plans are being made for a “make up show.”
“Beres lived up to his end of the deal but Above the Rim did not,” said Mr Smith. “We just want to say the right thing and do the right thing. This is 100 per cent my problem and I am obligated to the Bahamian people.”
The message did not sit well with a number of ticket holders. One attendee said: “I am officially requesting a refund as I paid for a Beres concert and got maybe one hour total of performance and none was Beres. So refund my money and let me know when and where to pick it up.”
Another patron wrote on the company’s Facebook fan page: “What about the people who travelled? I along with others, purchased airline tickets, booked hotel rooms and purchased double platinum tickets with money that doesn’t and didn’t come easy. Would we have to travel again? And who will pay for that?”
