A BAHAMAS-based cancer chief wanted on criminal charges in Canada says he has late, stage-four cancer himself and is too ill to travel.
Dr Anthony Porter said today in his home that if Canadian investigators want to question him they should fly to the Bahamas.
Porter says he is suffering from lung cancer that has spread to his liver.
Canada's anti-corruption police have issued an arrest warrant for the physician, who faces six fraud-related charges stemming from the construction of a Montreal hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Canadian police branch says procedures to seek Porter's extradition are under way.
Porter is the former head watchdog of Canada's spy agency. In the Bahamas, he is the managing director of a cancer treatment center.
