OFFICIALS yesterday admitted they were stumped over what could have led to the death of two men discovered floating in waters between North Andros and Lyford Cay.

Superintendent Stephen Dean told The Tribune that at this time there were no leads. However he said authorities had found no evidence to classify the matter as a suspicious death at this time.

They are appealing to members of the public who might have information to report to the nearest police station.

The lifeless bodies of the two men, who have only been described by police sources as Caucasian and in their fifties, were found 12 miles off Morgan’s Bluff at around 4:30 pm on Monday. One of the victims, sources revealed, was nude with abrasions to the stomach and chest.

The second man was dressed only in a pair of boxer underwear and swimming trunks which were pulled down to the ankles. He had no visible signs of trauma or injuries.

Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) officers and police made the discovery after receiving a call from persons onboard a pleasure craft at 1pm to report that the men were floating in the water.

The officers then pulled both men from the water and took them to the RBDF base at Coral Harbour. They were examined and pronounced dead once there.
