A 22-year-old woman became the country’s latest murder victim after she was stabbed to death in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Well-placed sources say the deceased, as well as the man thought responsible for her death, reportedly wore electronic monitoring ankle-bracelets.

The woman and a man were at a residence on South Beach Drive off Bougainvillea Avenue shortly after 4am when another man kicked down the front door and forced his way inside.

The intruder then stabbed both victims about their

bodies before fleeing on foot. Sources say the woman was stabbed several times in her chest and the man, twice in one of his arms arm.

Upon arrival to the scene, police were met with the lifeless body of the woman who was pronounced dead that the scene. The man was suffering from minor stab wounds and taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he was examined and later released.

A 32-year-old who sources say may be an ex-boyfriend of the victim is being questioned. Investigating officers believe he may have information relevant to the case.

Police say investigations into the matter are underway. They appealed to anyone with information regarding any crime to call police at 919 or 328-TIPS (New Providence) or 300-8476 (Family Islands).

Police stress that all information will be kept strictly confidential.

Two years ago on the same street, Nellie Mae Brown, former president of the Bahamas Heart Association, was stabbed to death one April morning in 2011, after an alleged domestic conflict.

Her body was found with multiple wounds in an apartment complex on Bougainvillea Boulevard, South Beach.

Prince Hepburn, her partner at the time, was charged in connection with the death six days later when he was arraigned in the magistrate’s court, around the same time that controversial photos of Brown’s mutilated body surfaced on the internet.
