THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau opened its 2013 season on Saturday, January 12, as they began celebrations to mark their 24th year of youth baseball.
The highlight of the opening was the march in and assembly of the 30 baseball and nine girls’ softball teams.
JBLN has 570 young boys and girls participating in the league in 2013 in six age groups ranging from 5-19 years.
Dignitaries present for the opening included the Bahamas Baseball Federation, H.E. Cuban Ambassador, the Bahamas Olympic Association and Bahamian professional baseball players – Antoan Richardson, Albert Cartwright and Sean Albury.
Also present was the Diamond Dream Foundation from Baltimore, Maryland, which included former Major League Baseball players, who conducted the clinics for JBLN players this past weekend.
After the ceremonies play resumed in all divisions, the results are as follows:
