The One&Only Ocean Club has appointed John Conway as its general manager, with responsibility for operations at the resort.
“John’s knowledge of the One&Only brand and commitment to excellence ensures that he will continue to raise the level of service and experience throughout One&Only Ocean Club,” said George Markantonis, president and managing director of Kerzner International (Bahamas).
“With more than 15 years of experience here in the Bahamas, John’s wealth of expertise and long history with One&Only Ocean Club’s sister property, The Cove Atlantis, will help build upon the foundations that have made One&Only Ocean Club a leader in the Caribbean.”
With more than 30 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Mr Conway acted as senior vice-president and general manager of The Cove Atlantis.
Prior to that, Mr Conway served as senior vice-president and general manager of the 1,200-room Royal Towers at Atlantis, where he managed the resort’s day-to-day operations and achieved profitability, plus positive guest and employee satisfaction ratings.
Mr Conway previously held various executive positions for more than 10 years at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, including serving as the general manager of the Ritz-Carlton Bali and opening the Ritz-Carlton in Seoul.
He was also the hotel manager of the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida, as well as serving on the opening team of the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco, the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach and the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island.
“I am thrilled to be embarking on this new chapter with One&Only Ocean Club,” said Mr Conway. “One&Only Ocean Club continues to set a standard of excellence for the Caribbean, and there is simply no other resort in the Bahamas with such a rich and vibrant history.”
The One&Only Ocean Club offers three deluxe villas, 86 rooms, 14 suites and two two-bedroom cottages. Acclaimed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s, Dune, provides fine dining, while The One&Only Spa, operated by Mandara, features eight private spa villas. There is also an 18-hole Tom Weiskopf golf course and a family pool.
