MORE than 150 RBC employees will participate in the 2013 Sunshine Insurance race weekend.
The fourth annual running of the marathon, half marathon and relay; and third time in partnership with the Susan G Komen Bahamas Race for the Cure 5K, will begin on Saturday, January 19.
The proceeds will be used to fight breast cancer, honour those who lost their battle with the disease and celebrate its survivors.
RBC said it is committed to raising awareness about breast cancer and to supporting breast cancer research and education.
The RBC/RBTT Caribbean Children’s Cancer Fund was established four years ago to assist young persons throughout the Caribbean who have been diagnosed with cancer.
RBC said it is proud to continue its commitment to the fight against cancer by sponsoring the Susan G Komen Bahamas Race for the Cure.
The proceeds will directly benefit the Cancer Society of the Bahamas, the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group, the Bahamas Breast Cancer Initiative and the Cancer Association of Grand Bahama.
The Bahamas Marathon last year attracted more than 1,300 participants.
On January 20, the RBC Relay team will participate in the four-person marathon relay. Nathaniel Beneby, market head for personal banking in the Bahamas, Cayman and Turks and Caicos Islands, expressed his pleasure that so many RBC employees had taken advantage of the opportunity to participate in Race Weekend; registration costs for all RBC employees were fully subsidised by RBC.
The Saturday race begins at Church Street (St Matthew’s Anglican Church).
The Bahamas Marathon, the feature event, is scheduled for Sunday, beginning at 6am at Junkanoo Beach.
