THE family of a missing Cuban man is appealing to members of the public for any information that will help locate him.
Mayra Reyes told the Big T that she is desperate to find her husband of 18 years after he failed to return from what was supposed to be a quick day trip to Andros.
Her husband, Julio Feria, was a heavy equipment operator at Baha Mar and told her that he was going to Andros for a day to ask about work and that he would be back later that day. That was on January 5 and she has not seen or heard from him since he left for the airport.
Ms Reyes said that it was completely out of character for her husband to just go away and not check in with her. In the 18 years that they have been here, he has worked on several Bahamian islands. She said that her husband did not carry any bags or anything else that would suggest that he would be gone longer than that day.
She added that his cell phones are both off. Ms Reyes added that she has been to the police to report him as missing. Police have confirmed with Western Air, that Mr Feria had booked a one way ticket to Andros which he took, but have not been able to get any more leads to his whereabouts.
Police had asked her to see if one of two unidentified man found drowned were her husband, but she didn’t know either of them.
Ms Reyes is hopeful that someone on the flight may remember her husband and if he met someone at the airport in Andros or offer any clues to his whereabouts.
She said that she just wants to know what happened to him and what she is to tell the couple’s two children. She is also extremely concerned because her husband was the sole breadwinner in the family and funds are low.
Any one with any information about Mr Feria is asked to call 361-1205 or 446-6458.
