POLICE say they shot and killed a 35-year-old man in The Mudd community in Abaco last night.

According to their reports, officers were on a "special duty police operation" when they shot the man. Their reports did not say what led to the shooting.

"On Wednesday January 23, 2013, around 7:45 p.m., there was a report of a police shooting

incident in the Mudd Community, Abaco," the report said.

"Reports are that officers while on special duty police operation were involved in a shooting

incident with a 35-year-old male resident of Abaco, which resulted in the death of the

individual.

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the local doctor in Abaco."

Police say the matter is under active police investigation.
