Assemblies of Brethren speak out against Yes Vote campaign

YET another religious group has come out against the upcoming gambling referendum.

The Assemblies of Brethren of the Bahamas said it supports the position of the Save our Bahamas Committee, and will vote “no” to both questions.

A statement issued by the Brethren said: “Consistent with the Mission of the Assemblies of Brethren in the Bahamas, which reads as follows: ‘To lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and membership in His family, assist in their development to Christ-like maturity, and to equip them for ministry in the church and mission in the world, so that we can all help expand the kingdom of God and magnify His Name together,’ the Assemblies of Brethren in the Bahamas supports the position of the Save Our Bahamas Committee with respect to the upcoming referendum, and in this regard will vote No with respect to the two questions on the ballot.

“We call on our members, followers and Christians across the Bahamas to vote to preserve our Godly Christian heritage as enshrined in our nation’s constitution by our founding fathers. These values of self-discipline, industry, loyalty, unity and an abiding respect for Christian values and the rule of law should lead us all to vote no in the upcoming referendum.

“The Assemblies of Brethren in the Bahamas is committed to win our nation back to faith in God through Jesus Christ as we live and walk in daily obedience to His Word.”
