Two killed in violent weekend

THE country’s murder count went up two notches over the weekend when two men were killed in two separate incidents.

The latest murder happened around 2pm on Sunday.

Superintendent Stephen Dean said police received a call that a body was found just off West Bay Street on Deans Lane.

“Officers responded they met the body of a male with multiple wounds about the body lying in bushes. What we can tell you, based on the information we have we believe we will be able to wrap this matter up very soon and should have some good news for the victim’s family as early as tomorrow,” he said.

“We are appealing to members of the public who may have any information to come forward. The information will remain strictly confidential.”

Supt Dean said police are not sure at this time if the man was shot or stabbed or the age and identity of the victim.

Investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, police say they have four men in custody in connection with a murder early Saturday morning.

It happened around 2.45am off of East Street.

According to reports, the victim was involved in an argument with a male through Toote Shop Corner and was shot in the head.

The victim died on the scene and the suspect fled in a white Honda Civic with three other males.

Police say a few minutes later officers from the Selective Enforcement Tea were on patrol through Peter Street when the intercepted the vehicles with the four men inside. The men, ages 30, 22 and 19 were taken into custody.

Investigations are continuing.

Police have officially identified the victim but sources say he is 25-year-old Alley Munroe.

Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

The country’s murder count now stands at eight for the year.

Police are also seeking the publics assistance in locating the suspect or suspects responsible for a shooting incident that left a 26- year-old man in hospital.

Police say, the victim was standing in front of a residence through Mason’s addition off East Street on Saturday, when he was approached by a white vehicle.

The occupants fired shots and sped off. The victim was shot in the face. He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in serious condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
