THE Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) has named a 27-member team - 12 females and 15 males - for the Senior Central American and Caribbean Games in Mexico July 5-7.
This is the second of four national track and field teams that will represent the Bahamas during the 2013 summer season. On Sunday, the Age Group team wrapped up its final day of competition in Curacao. The eight member team which consists of four females and four males won gold in both the under-13 and under-15 mixed relay events.

Despite having the best performance of any Bahamian in the 100m, Derrick Atkins will only serve relay duties at the championships.
Donald Thomas, who did not place in the top two at the BTC Open Nationals, replaces Ryan Ingraham at the Sr CAC Championships. Thomas is still hoping for an opportunity to obtain the “A” standard for the IAAF World Championships.
As of today, three Bahamians have the “B” standard in the men’s high jump. Only one Bahamian can represent the Bahamas with the “B” standard at the IAAF World Championships. However, the overall winner in the Sr CAC championships has an automatic bid to the World Championships.
In 2011, Bahamas won 10 medals - five gold, two silver and three bronze - at the Sr CAC Games. The team is scheduled to leave on July 3.
