Entrepreneur workshop attracts more than 125

More than 125 participants attended the Entrepreneur Empowerment Workshop hosted by Mark A. Turnquest & The Small Business Resource Centre.

Colina Insurance Company was the platinum sponsor, and Kino McCartney, one of the organisation’s branch managers, spoke on the importance of business and personal insurance planning.

The workshop’s three main goals were to provide information on how to start, manage and grow a business in an effective and efficient manner; enlighten new entrepreneurs and existing small business and medium-sized business owners (SMEs) on how to successfully prepare and execute business plans; and provide an updated report on the progress of the SME Act, SME Development Agency and Value-Added Tax (VAT).

Mr. Turnquest explained all sections of business planning and execution through a new business training model, entitled ‘8 M’s of Entrepreneurial Success’. Another workshop will be held on November 16, 2013.

What good is attending an entrepreneur workshop when the entire system is stacked against you? Contrast this to a Bahamian student who went to school in Canada. While at university, he and some classmates come up with an idea, and get over a million dollars in venture capital while they are students.

About halfway down, you will find the name of the student, Daniel Allen from the Bahamas, and he is listed on the website as founder and Chief Information Officer.
