THE eco-friendly Guy Harvey Outpost brand says Old Bahama Bay and the Green Turtle Club, rebranded under its Expedition Properties Portfolio, are enjoying a “pretty good summer” with “encouraging” performances.
In an interview with Tribune Business, Mark Ellert, president of Guy Harvey Outpost, which markets and offers travel and booking services to its customers through its Outpost Travel Desk and central reservation office, said Old Bahama Bay resort was receiving positive reviews from guests.
“We have advised people that the property is opened. It’s unfortunate that all the press over the past couple years left a lot of people with the impression that everything was closed,” Mr Ellert said.
“The property is fully functional and having a great summer. Old Bahama Bay is business as usual as far as we are concerned. It’s been working through the reopening issues, and everyone seems to be pretty pleased with the work of the new management team over there. We’re sending customers over there and we’re getting good reports on the experience that the customers are having.”
Mr Ellert added: “We have the dining room overlooking the marina reopened, and that’s been a big plus for the marina visitors. We have the bar operating,a casual beach side bar experience, Bone Fish Folley.
“The marina is open and the guest rooms are open. We have been focusing on building our diving experiences with Stuart Coves out of Nassau. We haven’t succeeded yet in getting a permanent sport fishing boat located over there for guest charter purposes, but we will get that done in due course. People have been enjoying the facility for sure.”
Mr Ellert said reports were similar from the Green Turtle Club, the first member of its Expedition Properties Portfolio. “Similarly Green Turtle Club has been having a very strong summer,” he added.
“It got off to a slow start. I understand, however, that their opening season has exceeded their expectations. Summer, of course, is a little slower on the bonefishing side, but nevertheless for us it’s been an encouragingly strong summer. We just hope that the weather cooperates and allows it to remain that way.”
