BAHAMIAN artist Sasha Dunn has released his third mix-tape, and he is now focused on finishing his summer tour, which ends late next month.

Although his initial plans for this year were altered, his short term goal has been to finish off the Summer Of Sasha musical tour. He is set to make stops in the Bronx, NewYork in late August. Long-term he wants to hit the shores of Japan to spread the messages of peace and hope in his music.

Over the past few months the musician has had a lot on his plate, but the release of his mix-tape was top priority.

The Epic Of The Notorious Dunn Vol. II: PROPHESY, was released last month. Sasha worked closely with his producer Patrick “PatRock” Knowles of First Class Sounds Ltd to put the project out.

When Sasha and his team went to the drawing board, he intended for the mix-tape to be a continuation of his previous tape, Hazy Dayz & Crazy Nigthz. It was released earlier this year, a mix of serious and light-hearted stories of living in Nassau.

Though his main objective was to continue telling the story of life here, the project transformed into something completely unexpected, but equally satisfying, Sasha said.

“I initially went into the studio to create a continuation, but when I got in the studio and started recording the project took on a life of its own. By the time we got to the seventh track it was clear what this product was and like bolt of lightning it struck me. Prophesy was to be the continuation of The Epic Of The Notorious Dunn.”

He said: “The tracks were more subtle and possessed a more laid back and roll up feel but it all felt very familiar. When I sat back and listened to the tracks in order it was like an epiphany and the one word that flashed in my mind in bright lights was prophesy.”

The Epic of The Notorious Duun Vol. II Prophesy consists of spiritual tracks ranging from “Heaven only knows” to more sensual tracks like “G.L.S. (Girls Love Sasha)” to more playful and light-hearted tracks like “Turnt Up”.

With such variety, he said the music on the mix-tape is still able to shed light on socioeconomic conditions with tracks like “What’s Goin On In This World” and “Big Bang Theory”.

“The project is a great balance of righteousness and rachetness,” he said.

“I want people to listen to every single track in sequence. I hope it sparks a flame of intellectual curiosity to know more about themselves, their culture and their place in this big world of ours.”

Sasha’s music has evolved greatly over years. He said this is evident on his latest mix-tape.

“The evolution can be seen in my instrumental selection. The beats I decide to rap on are for the most part unknown and obscure because it is never my goal to do what is hot now but rather expose people to that which is brand new and hot. I have also made it my goal to bridge the gap between generations and sexes in the hip hop community in this country by working younger artists like Clar, Buckweed and 11-year-old rap prodigy Angel K,” he said.

Sasha Dunn introduced himself to the music scene five years ago. Some of his work has been influenced by international musicians including Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur and Buju Banton.
