THE Boy Scouts St Thomas More Troop 46 Bahamas enjoyed an educational tour of the Bahamas National Trust Retreat.
The tour guide Scott Johnson provided some information on the 176 species of rare palms there, as well as hardwoods and native trees, including the gumelemi, poison wood, madeira, and tamarind.
The most exciting part for the boys was the petting session, when they were allowed to pet a local snake which is non-poisonous and native to Bahamas.
The experience was quite liberating for some of the boys who were previously very frightened of snakes. Some parents who attended were not so brave!
“Overall it was a great educational experience for the scouts,” troop leader Thomas Ferguson said.
