JULY 4 is the new date when four men charged in connection with the murder of an American tourist will have their case fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial.

Yesterday, Craig Johnson, 21, of Clarke’s Alley; Anton Bastian, 19, of Abraham Street; Jamaal Dorfevil, 28, of St James Road; and Marcellus Williams, 21, of Culmer’s Alley were expected to be served with a Voluntary Bill of Indictment in connection with the May 12 shooting death of Kyle Bruner.

However, the Bill was not ready and the presentation was adjourned.

Last month, the four accused men appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez facing murder and armed robbery charges.

It is alleged that on the day in question, while concerned together, they intentionally and unlawfully caused the death of the 34-year-old.

It is also alleged that on that same day, while armed with a handgun, they robbed a woman of her green handbag valued at $30 and an iPhone valued at $900.

It is also claimed they robbed another person of a black handbag valued at $20, a black iPhone valued at $300, and $30 cash.

Due to the nature of the charges, the men were not required to enter a plea.

Johnson and Bastian made allegations of police brutality before all four were remanded into custody at Her Majesty’s Prison until completion of trial.
