FREEPORT – A female driver who was seriously injured in a car accident on Sunday has died, pushing the traffic fatality count on the streets of Grand Bahama to seven.
Inspector Advardo Dames, press liaison officer, reported that the victim succumbed to her injuries around 6.58pm on Tuesday at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
Police have not yet released the victim’s identity.
According to reports, the woman was driving a Chevy Venture. She was travelling with three children, who were passengers in the vehicle.
Police received a report that a collision occurred around noon at the intersection of West Mall Drive and Pioneer’s Way, involving the Chevy and a Pontiac Grand Prix, which was driven by another woman.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
The driver of the Chevy was critically injured and detained in hospital. However, the driver of the Pontiac and the three children sustained only minor injuries.
Inspector Dames said police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
