Wear your colours with pride

BAHAMIANS are encouraged to wear their national colours with pride today, as the celebrations to mark the 40th Anniversary of Independence gear up.

Fridays have been deemed a national colours day in the runup to July 10, and people are asked to drape the flag from their homes and businesses and wear national colours.

The National Independence Flag has been continuing its journey across the Family Islands, as our pictures show, and this weekend a host of events are taking place across The Bahamas as part of the ongoing celebrations, including a fun run and walk starting at 6am on Saturday and Sunday.

Next week culminates in a National Pride Day at Rawson Square on Friday.

On Monday the Prison Officers Pop Band is scheduled to perform in the square at 1pm, with a presentation of the Coat of Arms by the Junkanoo Development Association on Tuesday.

On Thursday, July 4, the United States salutes The Bahamas with a fireworks display at the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge.
