Vernice Walkine (left) has officially taken over the role of president and chief executive at Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD). She is the first Bahamian to be appointed to this role at the airport management company formed six years ago to redevelop Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA).
A veteran of the tourism industry, Ms Walkine joined NAD in November 2010 as vice-president of marketing and communications. Her portfolio later expanded to include commercial development. She succeeds Stewart Steeves (right), who will become the global vice-president of Finance and chief financial officer at Vantage Airport Group, which operates NAD under a 10-year management agreement.
In addition to leading a staff of more than 200, Ms Walkine will oversee the company through the final stage of the $409.5 million developmentāa new International and Domestic Departures/Domestic Arrivals terminal set to open this autumn.
