MEMBERS OF St Ambrose Parish sought guidance and an outpouring of the holy spirit during the Faith Alive weekend. This year’s Faith Alive weekend was held under the theme “Be Alive In Faith” and was designed to activate the grace of God.

During the Faith Alive weekend members engaged in a prayer vigil and other activities including small group sessions where they shared personal experiences of their walk with God.

“Faith Alive was our prayer to seek God’s guidance for an outpouring of the holy spirit, that through grace, faith will come alive, souls refreshed, family relationships healed and new commitments to Jesus Christ realised,” Fr Dwight Rolle told Tribune Religion.

“In these sessions lasting for two hours, many realised that even though we are different, we are very much the same. We share similar experiences that only the grace of God rescued us from,” he said.

Other sessions included presentations on what it means to be in the lord’s army. A small group led by Fr Rolle also visited the shut-ins of the parish. They met a 97-year old women who was overwhelmed by the visitation.

“As Christians, we must always be mindful that we are always in need of renewal and that God is always doing a new thing in and around us for his greater good. When we stop growing spiritually we begin to stagnate. When we do not honestly and continuously seek God’s will in new things and trust him to lead us, we become spiritually malnourished or even spiritually dead,” said Fr Rolle.
During the event Fr Rolle said many of those in attendance renewed their commitments to God.

“Many were led to renewal and recommitted themselves to the service of almighty God. We are ensuring that we continue to live and respond to God in faith through plans to make the mission and ministry of the church exciting.”
