St Andrew’s Hurricanes, with strong performances from a very deep team, walked away with the BLTA World Tennis Day Tennis 10s Mini-Tennis Jamboree championship trophy.

St Andrew’s defeated St Anne’s in a nail-biter that had to be decided by one point.

Using the Davis Cup format of two singles and a doubles per match, St Anne’s jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Jacobi Bain, the top singles player for St Anne’s, defeated Owen Taylor, the top singles player for St Andrew’s, in the first singles match.

The second singles went to Ryan Fox of St Andrew’s who defeated Trevor Cuffy of St Anne’s. This meant the championship would be decided by the doubles.

St Anne’s led 8-4, needing only two points to clinch the team title, but St Andrew’s chipped away at the lead one point at a time and tied the match at 9 all.

St Andrew’s won the deciding point to seal the team championship in Pool A. St. Andrew’s were led by Owen Taylor, Daniel Clivio, Ryan Fox, Gabriella Moran and Emma Weech.

In Pool B, Hill Crest Academy was unstoppable as they rolled over the competition by winning all of their matches in the round robin with a perfect 9-0 win/loss record.

The boys from Hill Crest defeated EP Roberts Primary 3-0 to capture the Pool B championship. Members of the winning Hill Crest Team were Breon Brooks, Daniel Bodie, Justin Etienne, Myron Johnson and Dentry Mortimer Jr.
