A MAN accused of murdering a woman during an Eleuthera home invasion six years ago, walked free from the Supreme Court yesterday leaving the question of who killed her unanswered.
Livingston Taylor, 47, of Nassau Village, was accused of breaking into the Rock Sound home of Agnes Sylvia Cates on October 7, 2007, murdering her, and robbing her of her vehicle.
Mrs Cates was found bludgeoned to death in the bedroom of her home.
Taylor denied the charges and represented himself throughout a trial which included DNA specialist Kevin Noppinger saying that blood found in Cates’s car belonged to Taylor.
Taylor claimed police planted the blood.
Yesterday, after Justice Roy Jones summarised the evidence, a 12-member jury returned with 11-1 not-guilty verdicts for charges of murder, robbery and burglary.
The judge told Taylor that he was free to go.
After Mr Taylor’s relatives left the court they praised God for answering their prayers.
The surviving family of Ms Cates were clearly displeased with the verdict.
See Monday’s Tribune for more on the verdict.
