THREE more men were arraigned in Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with a $1 million marijuana seizure in an inner city community nearly two weeks ago.
Leron Roberts, 36; Garth Chung, 51; and Wayne Neely, 55 appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell facing charges of conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with intent to supply, conspiracy to import dangerous drugs, importation of dangerous drugs and possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.
It is claimed these men, who denied the charges and pleaded not guilty, committed these crimes between September 9, 2012, and March 1, 2013.
On March 1, police found the drugs in an apartment on John Street.
Jerone Roberts appeared for all three defendants and made claims of police brutality on behalf of Chung.
He also asked for the prosecution to provide proof substantiating the claims of conspiracy against Neely.
The magistrate noted both requests before remanding the men into custody until March 13, where the defendants will return to court to be arraigned for the record, along with three other persons.
Last Wednesday, David Colebrooke, Orlando Murray and Charnthan Hill were arraigned on the same charges.
Murray initially pleaded guilty but this was not accepted because his plea was not unequivocal, as he disagreed with the facts read by the police prosecutor.
All defendants will stand trial on October 17.
Colebrooke is represented by Michael Kemp while Hill is represented by Tai Pinder.
