TICKET holders from the botched Night of Love concert by Above the Rim Productions are still in the dark about compensation for the event.
In a press statement, the event company said “plans are being made for a make-up show.” However, it is unclear when the event will be, who will headline it, and whether reggae star Beres Hammond will be featured on the line up. Beres Hammond was scheduled to headline the February 22 event. He failed to take the stage due to non-payment. The promoters took responsibility for the no show, assuring the public that Beres Hammond fulfilled his end of the bargain.
“Make-up concert? I want my money back. How long are they trying to wait until they put on a make up event. They need to let people know and let us know soon. We spend our money and we patronise their concert so they need to let us know,” said Anna, a ticket holder.
“I was disappointed that I did not get to see Beres that night. I think the people who attended deserve a make-up event. And not just any event featuring any artist. I paid to see Beres and that is who I hope will be performing. They need to just clear up what is going on between the two camps and come to an agreement that benefits both parties,” another ticket holder said.
Mervis Walsh, manager for Beres Hammond, told a local television station last month that Hammond’s no show was due to a lack of payment by Above The Rim, which has hosted the reggae star in concert for nine years. She also said they may consider taking legal action against the promotion company.
“I do not even know whether I am interested in a make-up concert. I know after this entire ordeal, Above The Rim’s credibility with Bahamians is tarnished. They hosted great shows in the past but it is going to take much more for people to trust them again,” said James, a ticket holder.
