USHERING in the Easter season, an upcoming event seeks to remind believers of the true meaning of Jesus’ crucifixion, death and resurrection.

“He Lives” gospel extravaganza presented by Crescendo Arts will be held this Sunday at the Centre of the Performing Arts. The show will feature acts such as Gospel Boyz, Sons of Thunder, The Royal Bahamas Police Force Band, Gospel Jammers, Jovette Wells, ATG Mime Artists, Young Rev, The General, Mr Lynx, Nehemiah Hield, and Michael Taylor (National Children’s Choir member).

The gospel concert focuses on the fact that Jesus has risen and is part of a believers’ everyday life, said Neil Pinder of Crescendo Arts.

“People should support this event because this is a reminder that God gave his only begotten son to us to forgive us for our sins and we must too give to others. The concert’s proceeds will go to helping our brothers and sisters who have encountered stumbling blocks and setbacks in their life,” said Mr Pinder.

“We want people to feel the true meaning of Easter, in this Lenten season by way of the performing arts. We need to continuously remember that no matter what we may go through in life that he lives. The goal of this event is to just emphasize that Jesus has risen and he deserves to be celebrated,” he said.

Great Commission Ministries will be the beneficiary of proceeds from the event. Great Commission Ministries is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation with a mission to bring restoration and hope to persons who are affected by poverty, crime, drug abuse, and broken relationship. Great Commission Ministries also assists the homeless by providing emergency shelter, food and clothing for those in need.

Mr Pinder said proceeds will help defray the day to day costs encountered by the ministry to help the less fortunate.

“Acts 20:35 states: ‘In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the lord Jesus, how he himself said. So it is more blessed to give than to receive.’

We pray that the event will foster a sense of charity, of giving, of putting others before oneself by using the time, talents, and treasures given by God,” Mr Pinder said.
