Claims of illegal strike taking place at airport

AIRPORT Airline Allied Workers Union members allegedly took industrial action at the Lynden Pindling International Airport yesterday.

While details concerning the “strike” were unavailable up to press time, General Manager of Nassau Flight services, Ricardo Rolle, claimed that it was illegal.

“An illegal strike is taking place with union members. Proper grievance procedures haven’t been followed so it is considered an illegal strike,” he said.

He was not in a position to give more details about the alleged industrial action.

Nelerene Harding, president of the AAAWU, could not be reached up to press time.

I'll take their job no problem - so will about 10,000 other Bahamians. These unions really rub me the wrong way.

they don't want their jobs?give it to someone who will appreciate it,in another month graduates will be on the road looking for employment, they don't want it give it to the youngsters who are willing to work and listen to their employers, because in the Bahamas it looks like the employee tells the boss what they want to do and when they cant have what they want, they strike,so fire their backsides!!!!
